Short Bio

I am currently a Machine Learning Researcher at D-Wave Systems Inc. Prior to D-Wave, I was a University Research Associate (URA) at Simon Fraser University teaching for the Professional Master's program in Big Data and conducting research on deep learning models for understanding group activities in videos. I obtained my Ph.D. degree from Simon Fraser University under Prof. Greg Mori's supervision working on large-scaled internet video analysis frameworks. Before Ph.D., I received my M.Sc. in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University in 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Greg Mori and Prof. Mark Drew, and, I earned my B.Sc. in Computer Engineering at Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2009. In summer 2014, I did an internship at Google's Image Search team, where I worked on deep convolutional neural networks for image classification.
